Serious laughter aims to hold high the funny, the silly, the crooked and upside down. Our repressed need to have fun in the face of darkness. The rebellious, revolutionary spirit of the carnevalesque the possibility of release in a belly laugh and the serious need we have for nonsense, the bold jokes of political humour, joyful activism, sad clowns and to not take ourselves oh so seriously sometimes.
